Destination Weddings in India

I vaguely remember having a chat with an American friend a few years back, the debate was about which country has the maximum destination weddings in the world?

The Banter went on back and forth and I was trying to prove that India does most of the Destination Weddings.

India with its resident population of 1.3 billion, has more probability at some point or the other to conduct Weddings in India or Thailand, Bali, Goa, USA, Hawaii, Italy, Spain, UAE, Australia, Africa etc. Destination weddings are more probable for Indians as they have settled all over the Globe.

Yet, I also wanted to prove that our frenzy for the Big? Fat Indian Wedding ? began way back in history.

My deep quest to understand the first destination wedding was found in the book Ramayana. Interestingly Lord Rama & Sita got married at Janakpur which is in Nepal. No doubt the elated Indian weddings of today are inspired by the first destination wedding.

So, we like to conclude that the dream Destination weddings being born with us will gain momentum once things are back on track. And it is only a matter of time and the magic elixir of marriage will soon be back.

If you want me to describe Destination Weddings in India in a single sentence, I would say its like an excited child visiting a Fair for the first time and confused between choosing a sweet candy or an ice cream. Well, India gives you a plethora of possibilities to choose from its ?Geographic Wonderland ? which consists of Beaches, Mountains, Forests, Backwaters and Royal Palaces dotted across the Country.
