Delivering weddings during a pandemic requires a special kind of skill.

It has been a different and uphill task and a unique decor experience for the Team Marriage Colours and so far we have completed around 15 pandemic setups.

The Chennai Wedding market is slowly limping back to action. We all know one of the most affected industries is weddings, and below are a few pointers to give a certain insight.

Availability of manpower is next to nil. There are no skilled workers at all in sight. Skilled migrant workers are in single digits in the entire city of Chennai.

Inflation of overall production costs

New rules at the workplace are directly proportional to additional costs.

Centralised or decentralised markets (for instance the usual Koyambedu flower market is shutdown due to the pandemic; so the local flower distribution affects the entire ecosystem).

Shrinking budgets of clients and inflation in production across all industries.

Taking advantage of the situation and prices of certain vertices have skyrocketed.

There are many many points like these that need to be considered.

However, this is one of the classic telugu weddings we delivered on the 14th August 2020 at Hotel Feathers.

Shrinking budgets, inflation all around, how did we still manage a classic set up?

The client was particular about the outcome for both the wedding and reception sessions.

To give you a brief, it was an intimate Telugu wedding and as you know, the restrictions are in place during these Covid times. We were in charge of decor for their home wedding, the Muhurtham decor and the reception decor; the celebrations happened at Feathers hotel in Chennai, located at Ramapuram, further down Chennai Trade Centre, on Mount Poonamallee road.

We have done a lot of weddings in the Feathers Hotel and it is in our experience one of our favourite wedding reception venues in Chennai.

We kept the wedding decor simple and classic for the reception and added a contemporary twist floral mandap for the evening. Mixed pastel colours at the back and red colour in the middle, also delivered a classic trussing with neutral white fabric. This decor setup would bounce off the lights to the stage (white) and keep the entire stage well lit, bright and also the colours would perfectly match the overall ambience.

Focussing on the specifics, the red rose Ganesha backdrop was an eye-catcher, the simple but elegant photo booth on the side threw an eloquent invite to the guests; the couple's highlighted regal monogramme and decor as you entered the hall was a cute green distraction with white relief.

The reception stage was in innocent white with the greens providing the right ambience symbolizing fertility and abundance.

The decor for the wedding ceremony was a simple, yet elegant combination of floral hangings, complemented by the floral Ganesha in the background with red rose pillars supporting the structure as part of the wedding decorations.
