We had an interesting conversation with Antonia Radovancic of Something Blue Weddings, Croatia, one of the leading Wedding Planners in Croatia. She had several things to tell about her home country.

Fort George, Vis Island

Fort George is located on Vis island, it is an old castle that was transformed to a beautiful restaurant. Open air venue with a lot of trees surrounding the space and the most beautiful view to the open sea. It has this rustic but such an elegant vibe that a lot of our couples are looking for.

Vila Dalmacija

Vila Dalmacija is a venue located in beautiful city of Split. It was a summer house of former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito. Now is in the ownership of the city and is has a beautiful terrace where we have weddings. It is a private bay so you have a wedding by the sea and you are sure that there are not going to be other people around. This venue is very elegant and can hold both rustic and very glamorous style.

Bonj les Bains

If I have to choose one place in Croatia by our opinion is most popular for weddings I would say Island of Hvar. Special place indeed, people, wine, food everything is special on this island . Bonj leas Bains is a beautiful all white beach venue that has it all, Palm trees, beautiful view over the city port and sea just in front. It is a perfect venue for elegant and luxurious wedding by the sea.

Meneghetti Istria

If you love good wine and good food Istria is where you go in Croatia. If you are that person what is a better place for your wedding then a wine hotel? It was a place where a lot of celebrity weddings in Croatia were held. This venue is very luxurious and elegant but again in its luxury very simple and rustic.

Martinis-Marchi

Castel by the sea, is there a better combination? Outdoor pool amazing for party wedding but also elegant and glamourous restaurant for a sit-down dinner. Island of Solta is not like Hvar it is very calm and rustic so it is great choice if you would like a nice family vacation. But also close enough to other islands and Split if you want a nice tour.

Destination weddings in Georgia and Cyprus

Georgia and Cyprus are definitely very big competitors for Croatia in Destination weddings. Lot of brides and grooms choose these countries for their destination weddings and we cant say that they dont have a lot of beautify venues to offer. Not only venues but these two countries have a lot to offer to the guests too but I think they cant compare with what Croatia has to offer. Everyone who has been to Croatia will agree with me.

Can you tell your favourite place to do a Destination Wedding?

As I mentioned Croatia has a lot of diversity to offer to brides and grooms. I believe this is exactly the reason why a lot of different types of newlyweds choose Croatia as their destination wedding location. You have it all from luxury wedding options, rustic inland wedding venues to beach wedding venues.

I prefer working on islands. I think they have a special vibe. Most of the beautiful castles and luxury rustic venues are on the islands.

Also islands are great if you are looking to have a proper vacation as a couple or a family with children.

Because of the smaller amount of people living on the islands in comparison to cities like Split, Zadar or Dubrovnik beaches are much nicer and more natural which gives them a special value.

What is going to be the Most trending Decor theme this year?

Rustic decor has been most popular in last few years. I would say rustic is still most wanted type of decorations for destination weddings and will stay that way this year too. What has changed is that a lot of greenery is being replaced with a lot of natural beige colours that we get from very popular pampas grass and white that is definitely the most popular colour for wedding flowers. We can also notice a comeback of very with luxury themes in venues that hold that type of decor of course.

Can you tell us 3 forms of homegrown entertainment for international guests?

Klapa: it is a traditional Croatian in original all male acoustic band that sings multi vocal traditional Croatian songs. Our brides and grooms love to include it in their cocktail hour.

Accordian: The instrument that is always included in traditional Croatian weddings. As the instruments sound is very entertaining couples love to pair it with Dj for party time.

Bridal pick up with a band : Tradition in Croatia that groom with groomsmen and all his guests pick up the bride in her house while singing traditional pick up songs. Foreign brides and grooms love this tradition as it is very fun part of the wedding for guests. They also tend to include their own traditional songs in the pick up to combine traditions of the countries.

What is the Vision of a 2020 Couple going to be like?

Vision of 2020 couple at least for ones getting married in Croatia is a breathtaking venue with a sea view, minimal rustic decor, good food, good wine and a great party with friends and family.

What is the theme which was trending for 2 years and what will be the
future trends.

For last few years, specially last few years rustic theme is most requested theme in destination weddings. I believe it will definitely stay on trend. Of course colours and all together look has been changing but theme in general has stayed. Here in Croatia we have a lot of weddings by the sea and I think rustic look really nicely goes with the look of the venues we have. Also it gives less formal look to the wedding itself so it is great for destination weddings. What I see is starting to trend a lot is very minimal look when we talk decoration. Lot of white and clean look at the weddings. That type of decor gives very elegant look to the venue.
